I am currently exploring the idea of soft geometry. The relationship between lines, points and angles create axioms in a 3-dimensional sphere. Math plays a huge role in most fiber creations. Measuring, and counting can shape a piece of string into an object. When you use a soft cord to create angles, unexpected patterns happen. Whether it’s hooking, looping or knotting you can’t control the outcome with complete certainty. I want to investigate this uncertainty and find the beauty in the lack of control.
In 2018 this sculpture had a different color scheme and formation. For my final project at College For Creative Studies I had these metal tubes fabricated. I drilled holes into the tubes and laced cording through, creating a unique pattern.
